Holmes Ultrasonic Humidifier

An ultrasonic humidifier is another type of a cool mist humidifier system.

Ultrasonic humidifiers work by vibrating a metal diaphragm at an ultrasonic frequency.  When this happens, it allows water droplets to leave the humidifier in the form of a cool fog.   Because the water is not boiled, any impurities or minerals that are in the water will be forced into the air with the use of this particular type of humidifier.  This type of humidifier often does not have a filter for the water, but the Holmes model does.  Purified water can also be used to reduce the amount of impurities put into the air.

The Holmes ultrasonic humidifier has been created with a water purification filter attached to it so that as the water passes through it, it will trap the impurities and minerals before releasing the mist into the air.  Holmes recommends replacing the filter every 2-3 months.  If you see “white dust” coming out of the machine the filter needs replacing.  The “white dust” forms when the minerals are not being cleaned out of the water.

As with all humidifiers, the ultrasonic humidifier must be cleaned regularly to keep it free from contaminates and bacteria which grow in the cool moist environment.
